Verification Links

What a verification link is

Every time you sourcemark your work, Sourcemark creates a unique verification page for that record. This page is the canonical proof that a declaration was made — who made it, when, and what terms they set.

The verification link is a permanent URL you can share with anyone. No account is needed to view it. The person on the other end sees exactly what you declared, presented clearly and without ambiguity.

Why verification matters

Saying “I created this” or “this isn't available for AI training” only carries weight if someone can check. A verification link turns your declaration from a claim into a checkable fact.

When a client, publisher, or platform receives your verification link, they can confirm in seconds that your work has been sourcemarked — and see the specific terms you've set. No back-and-forth, no trust-me, no PDFs to dig through.

What the verification page shows

Your verification page displays:

  • AI training status— Whether your work is not available for AI training or available by licence.
  • Timestamp— The exact date and time the record was created, establishing when your declaration was made.
  • Licensing contact— How interested parties can reach you about licensing, if you've made your work available.
  • Record details— Additional information about the sourcemarked work, including any metadata you've provided.

All of this is presented on a clean, purpose-built page designed to be immediately understandable by anyone — creative directors, legal teams, publishers, or automated compliance systems.

How to share your verification link

You can copy your verification link directly from your Sourcemark dashboard and share it however you like — in emails, contracts, portfolios, or messages.

Beyond the link itself, Sourcemark gives you several ways to embed verification into your existing workflow:

  • Badges— Small visual indicators you can add to your website or portfolio that link back to your verification page.
  • Email signatures— A compact verification badge formatted for email footers, so every message you send includes proof of your declarations.
  • QR codes— Scannable codes that resolve to your verification page, useful for print materials, physical exhibitions, or anywhere a clickable link isn't practical.

Each of these points back to the same verification page, giving whoever encounters your work a direct path to your declaration.

Visibility settings

Sourcemark offers three visibility levels for your records: discoverable, link-only, and hidden. It's worth understanding what these control — and what they don't.

Note

Visibility settings determine whether your record appears in public searches and directories. They do not restrict access to the verification link itself. If someone has your verification link, they can view your verification page regardless of your visibility setting.
  • Discoverable— Your record can be found through Sourcemark's public directory and search.
  • Link-only— Your record won't appear in searches, but anyone with the link can view it.
  • Hidden— Your record is not listed publicly, but the verification link still works for anyone who has it.

Think of visibility as controlling the front door — whether people can find you. The verification link is a direct invitation you hand to specific people, and it always works.

When to use verification links

Share your verification link whenever you want to back up a claim about your work. Common situations include:

  • Sending deliverables to clients along with proof of your AI training declaration
  • Including verification in contracts or licensing agreements
  • Adding badges to your portfolio so visitors can check your declarations themselves
  • Providing proof to platforms or publishers that your work has been sourcemarked

The link is lightweight, instant, and doesn't require the other person to understand anything about Sourcemark. They click, they see, they know.
